YES. I know. I’m a little bit late to the playground with this one, but I just HAD to. And of COURSE you know exactly who I have to start with….

KING BEY (Beyoncé Knowles)

From the side ponytail, to the bronze effortless glowy sexiness, to the toned curves to the nude heels, to the…I just have to stop. Beyonce is BEAUTIFUL, such a “thatgirlx!

She might as well change her name to Elegance. Everything this women does is just CLASS, and I love love love this look. The cape and the braided ponytail, YES!

People can chat all they want, but credit needs to be given when it’s due. Kim KILLED it with this. The curves are on fire and I think she looked stunning. The pulled back ponytail was the perfect choice and we don’t even need to discuss how her make-up was FLAW.LESS (as per usual), and that TRAIN!? Stunning.

And just because I HAD to…SERVE.IT. BEY

Five Fab Outfits to Inspire your Easter Look

The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and all types of fabulous is in the air, yes loviiees, its time for spring and most importantly time for Easterr!

Whether its church, lunch, brunch, whateverr, tis the season to put on your best and outshine the Rest! So here are six looks to inspire yourrr next outfit when your ripping through your closet trying to make that something old into something new, orr just heading to the mall to skip the old and buy the new, ha!

It’s like the floral brooch gave her outfit some LIFE! I think just plopping one on your blazer on your next easter dressy outing would be TOO FAB.  SJP’s look is a bit casual, but just roll with me here on the imagination train, think beautiful crisp trouser, lovely simple top, gorg blazer, and BAM, floral brooch.

LOVING THE SHOES?! Their Jean-Michel Cazabat’s ‘Elle Suede d’orsay Pumps’, retailing at $258.71
Check them out here at SHOPBOP

2.  The Pantsuit

I absolutely adore pantsuits, just that idea of being all covered up and still oozing HOT! Solange does it well adding some open toe sandals, and a shorter cut on the pant! I think a bold pant suit would be a perfect piece to rock for an Easter gathering, especially with a loud print or an even louuder color!

Lauren London does it beauuutifully, with a red Stella Mccartney smoking suit, the fit is SPOT on, the color is BOLD, the clutch the shoes, we could go on alll day! Obviously to easter it up, I would definitley close up a few buttons on the shirt, lol, fabulous nonetheless!

3. The Maxi Dress

When I think maxi dress, I think SUMMER, breeze, beach, casual.

Buut, then I saw Christina Milian in this French Connection  Sheer Overlay Halter Maxi Dress, and I.FELL. IN.LOVE. I think this would be sooo perfect for a dressy Easter event, especially church! It’s conservative without being stuffy, and that beautiful light fabric, paired with done up hair and make up takes it from casual to a whole other level of fabulous!

Want this EXACT dress?! It retails at $285.41, and you can Buy it here from Nordstrom!

4. Skirt it up, Skirt it up

This look is quintessential Easter in my opinon, I juust LOVE!   A fab skirt with a bit of poof to it, a simple top, a little bit of waist actiooon, and simple pieces of jewelry.

Adrienne Bailon rocked a black leather trim tank, with this beauuuuutiful organza tulle to the “Skirts Only”  fashion show in NYC (hosted by Procter & Gamble’s Orgullosa program — an initiative created to celebrate, empower and fuel Latina accomplishments and dreams) and it is just flawless. Maybe its time to put the pencil skirt down, back away, and take out  a different skirt you have in the closet, pair with a gold cuff and bangles, let your hair down, and skirt it up skirt it uuup.

5. Black & White

Of course Easter just isn’t Easter without some WHITE, it is a day of celebration and joy of course!   I think doing an all black & white look is just FAB, its simple, it’s classic, it’s a fashion trend for spring 2013, I mean need I go on? Tracee Ellis Ross above does it perfeeectly, all you need is a great trouser, and a simple white top.

So with that I close the post, and leave you with some beautiful black & white looks.

-Stay beautiful, stay loving!xo

Tika Sumter. I think this look works because even though it is fitted, it goes farr past the knee, conservative poitns!lol. Oh and I was going to try crop romeo from the background and then I thought, WHY the heck not, LOL.

Alicia Keys at the Edun Spring 2013 fashion show. A white blouse, and pants go a long way, love it!

When your outfit is blah or your hair is just not working for you, accessorizing your head can be the perfect way to take your look from FAB to DRAB. This season I’m trying to test out things I’ve never done before and just push my fashion boundaries a biit so of course the first thing that came to mind was a TURBAN.

Turbans have been rocked for ages and are definitley not a new trend, if you have an African mom you have most definitely seen them rock similiar looks with their headscarves.

Check out June Ambrose’s Turban Collection below, launched in 2011. As you can see in the first pic above, Iman is rocking one of the blue ones.

But how does  an everyday chick rock this?

Well lucky for us June has a tutorial  in a past issue of Essence magazine.

I scoured YOUTUBE for a video tutorial and the one below from naturalbelle1 was great for achieving the “Regal” style featured in June’s tutorial. Her trick was to wrap her head to add some height and then get her scarf/fabric of choice and place over to achieve the turban style.

For a look similiar to the “avant-garde” one in the tutorial check out this video from Fashion Elites. SUBSCRIBE TO THIS CHANNEL, IT IS FAB!

The Bottom line is that there a soooo many ways to rock a turban and it’s all about personalizing the look for you. Take this post as inspiration to get started and go out and create something fabulous!

For my natural divas use the turban to play up your fabulous texture and volume

New Years Eve Glam- How to Apply Fake Lashes

eva longoria glitter make-up

A long and full lash is the perfect way to top an extra glamorous make-up look, but application and choosing which one to go with can be pretty tricky.

For the best tips, we went to the eyelash gurus at  www.lashglue.com for some how-to lash info.

What to buy: A great glamorous but natural looking, and budget-friendly lash that is perfectt for NYE  is the ARDELL #117 lash.

They are usually sold at most drugstores, walmart, and shoppers and go from 4-6 bucks.  Pick-up some duo lash glue for application, its a great adhesive that will last a long time.

Tips & Tricks:

1. Practice makes perfect:

Remember the first time you tried to put on eyeliner and it was crooked, and all overrr your lid? Well after many raccoon eye mishaps its safe to say your now a pro at winging them thangs. The same goes for lashes, the first few times some of the ladies here at the thatgirlx team tried lashes they fell into the sink or they fell off 3 minutes later, but after a week or two of tries we are all false lash application machines.

2. Tweezers : Those eyelash strips are tiny and almost impossible to hold onto with your fingers so to make sure you have a strong hold on ’em, grab a pair of tweezers. Its a great help when trying to place your lashes above your natural ones.

3. Glue:When applying glue, less is more, you dont want to put too much, just a thin line. Once you have applied your glue/lash adhesive you also need to WAIT! With your tweezers gently wave your lashes back and forth so that your glue can harden slightly, or get “tacky”. This will make your glue stick better and allow your lashes to stay on longer.

4. Mascara: After your eyelashes have been applied, and given time to dry, use some mascara to really make them pop and also to ensure that the falsies are perfectly blended with your real ones.

5. Shadow first, lashes last:  For easier shadow application, do your eye makeup first, apply your lashes, and thenn mascara and eyeliner. Eyeliner will cover up any glue excess and give the illusion of a seamless line, even if your falsies may have been applied too far away from your natural lashes.

One of our absolute faavirote youtube make-up guru’s, lilpumpkinpie05 has the perrfect tutorial for you to follow step-by-step when applying your lashes tonight! Have a fantasic time tonight! xoxo

Also for reviews on lashes, glues, and where to get kim k and other celeb lashes check out our sponsors for todayy www.lashglue.com

  1. Peel of old adhesive that may make lashes “gunky”
  2. Measure the lash strip to make sure the length fits your natural lash length. (You may have to cut them).
  3. Lightly line the top of your lash line with your lash adhesive. The glue shouldn’t be on the lashes but just the strip. Make sure that you put a little extra glue on the ends. If their is too much use your finger to get some off.
  4. Don’t immediately apply the lashes after gluing. Wait 20-30 seconds for the glue to become a bit tacky.
  5. While drying, bend the lashes or curve them a bit so they can fit your natural length shape more naturally.
  6. To apply the lashes, first pull your natural lashes down so they do not get in the way.
  7. Using your finger or tweezers, bring your false lashes as close to your lash line as possible and begin bonding in the middle first. Work your way from the outer corner and bond it, and then work your way to the inner corner.
  8. Use your tweezers to get the lashes as close as possible to the lash line. You may have to slightly pull down on your false lashes to get them close.
  9. Use your finger to press down on the lashes.
  10. Messed up? Reapply some glue on the section which is not fitting or staying properly. Give some time for the glue to dry a bit before pressing down with your fingers of tweezers to bond again.
  11. Comb out your natural and false lashes so that they blend together and look more natural.
  12. Re-curl your lashes with a lash curler.
  13. Remember practice makes perfect!

New Years Eve 2011 Looks- Glitter smokey eye, grecian plaits, Kim K waves and more

A great dress and fab shoes are the basics for a fabulous New Years Eve outfit, but the element that really takes someone from regular chick to THATGIRLX status is makeup, hairr, and did I mention  makeup!!

NYE Eye Looks

In my opinion staple NYE make-up looks are a dark smokey eye if the outfit is loud, such as a sequin dress, OR if your relying on your make-up for the wow factor I think a fun look is a glitterry shadow or liner. An entirely seperate post will be coming later today with details on LASHES LASHES and more lashes. This is a staple for any glamorous look and thatgirlx will be bringing you our favorite cheap lash picks and youtube tutorials and how to finally put those things on without cursing out the world and dropping them in the sink;)

Looking through the absolutely fabulous  make-up blog by the amazing Miss Chriss : glamscamartists.wordpress.com  below are some of our favirote make-up looks from her website that we think would be great for NYE.

1. Glitter shadow

Another alternative to a full lid of gitter is glitter liner on the lower lash line with a smokey eye.

For all you make-up beginners this would be an easy look to pull off for new years. Glitter shadow on the lid and glitter liner on the bottom of the eyes, or glitter shadow carefully applied with one of your smaller shadow brush. Finish off the look with some liquid liner and you are good to gooo!

Red lips are also a great look.

The Smokey Eye

We searched youtube farr and wide for a great and easy make-up tutorial and while hunting we stumbled on the page of makeupbyeman for this great tutorial below. She uses some black, and brown shadows to create a fantastic look for new years. Pair with a nude or light pink lip. This also looks like something that will work great for all skin tones, and she has a great technique!

Silver Make-up Looks

If you don’t have some glitter shadow on hand, try silver shadow on your lid with a dark grey and black shadow in your crease area instead.

2. Fabulous Hair Inspiration

A regal updo,  straight & sleek, swide-swept hair or romantic curls/waves are perfect looks for NYE. Check out the ideas below. xoxo

The Grecian Plait.

Stunning and simple the grecian plait is a perfect hairstyle to top-up your NYE look and below is a fantastic youtube tutorial on how to fake this look, by parting your hair in the center with a low ponytail and adding a using braided extension hair to place on top.

Another great classic is Straight & Sleek, if you have the length blow dry and flat iron away or head to your local beauty supply for one or two packs of yaki relaxed. If the look is only for one night, purchase a bag of their sew-in clips and using a thread and needle sew some clips into the track.

For something extra glamorous, try an off the center part with hair swept to the side. Straighten top portions of hair and only use a curling iron on the a few of the bottom strands to creat this look.

Below is a hair tutorial by the wonderful beautybyjj on how to achieve this look
